Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Marysville, Montana

The Church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Marysville, Montana was established in 1886, just 28 years after the first Apparition at the Grotto of Massabieille. It remained in continual use through the 1940's. The missionaries wasted no time in bringing the story of Bernadette to America. The old church has now been recently restored by some friends of Lourdes.

The mining town had 5,000 inhabitants at its height. Today there are only about 100 people. The church remains closed except for weddings and funerals and other special occasions. Marysville is located in the scenic Rocky Mountains...A stones throw from the Continental Divide.
